Materials
What materials do you use to manufacture your address
lights?
Housings
have a front piece and back plate. Housing fronts are powder-coated paint-loc
steel. Back plates are aluminum with a powder-coated gloss white finish
that acts as a light reflector. Number panels are made from non-yellowing white
translucent acrylic custom laminated with computer cut commercial grade exterior
signage vinyl.
What are your numbers made of?
Number panels
are made from non-yellowing white translucent acrylic custom laminated
with computer cut commercial grade exterior signage vinyl.
How tall are the numbers in your address lights?
We have
address lights with 4 and 6 inch characters.
What kind of bulbs do your address lights use?
Large 4
and 6 inch character units come with (4) 193 wedge-based incandescent bulbs. The
small units come with (2) 655 wedge-based incandescent bulbs.
How long do the bulbs last?
The bulbs
last up to 4 years. We warranty them for 1 year.
Where can I get replacement bulbs?
Order them
from us online or print a Replacement
Bulb Order Form and
mail, fax or call your order in. We strongly suggest you only use replacement
bulbs supplied by us. There are many wedge-based bulbs that look like ours
but will not work properly and may damage your address light.
What kind of transformer do I need to power my address
light?
A plug-in
type 14 vac transformer is included with your address light unless you
order your light without a Transformer Kit. If you will be supplying
your own transformer use a 12, 14 or 16 vac doorbell transformer that
can handle an 8 watt minimum
power draw.
What if I am replacing an address light, from a different
manufacturer, with one of your address lights?
Tollmark
Address Lights are low-voltage fixtures and operate on 12-16 vac only! If
you are unsure as to the voltage supplied to your old address fixture have
a licensed electrician verify the
voltage before installing your new Tollmark Address
Light.
Do I have to apply the address numbers?
No. Unless
you order your address light without numbers we always custom apply
them for you. We just need to know what characters you want.
Why don’t you use a photo-eye
(photoelectric sensor) to switch the address light on at night
and off during the day?
Adding a
photo-eye would raise the cost of the product and adds another piece of circuitry
that could fail. Also, annual electrical cost differences are minimal.
What if the address we need has letters or dashes in it?
No problem. As
long as the total number of characters needed, including spaces, does
not exceed (seven) in the 4 inch numbered units or (six) in the 6 inch numbered
units we can make it.
What if my space is very limited? Can
you make vertical numbers?
Yes, but
the more characters needed the smaller in height they get. Each character
in a 3 digit address will be 4 inches tall, but a 4 digit address will have
characters under 3 inches in height. This may not meet your local ordinances. Please
call the office to place this type of special order. Contact
Us
What product options do you have?
We offer
many options including different housing styles, sizes and finishes. We
also have options for the number panels including two fonts and two lighting
choices. Most
of our units hold 4 inch characters, but we have a special address light
that holds 6 inch characters. The 6 inch character address lights are
only available
in the block style font with the background lit, characters dark.
What finish options do you offer?
The housings
come in Hammered Brass, Pewter, Old Bronze, White, Brown
and Black. The signage vinyl used to create the number panels
comes in Black and Brown.
Ordering and Paying
Do you take credit cards?
Yes, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.
What if I don’t want to make
an online payment?
No problem. Go
to Printable Forms and
print the order form that fits your needs. You can phone, fax
or mail your order in with credit card information or mail
the form with a check or money order.
How long does it take to get my address light after I
have ordered it?
We try to
ship orders out within 7 business days of receipt of your order and payment. Shipping
time takes another 3 to 7 days. A typical order should be received within
2 to 3 weeks sometimes much sooner. The only thing that will delay
an order, on our end, is if we are temporarily out of stock on a particular
finish. In this case we will work to get your order out as soon as possible.
How will you ship my order?
We use UPS
Ground to ship address light orders. We use the USPS for some replacement
parts.
Installation
Do you provide installation services?
No. We
are a manufacturer only.
Homeowner Installation Instructions (pg.
1 , pg.
2 )
Most
of you will want to use the plug-in type transformer
we supply with your address light. These instructions are
for this type
of installation.
Builder Installation Instructions
These
instructions are good if you are building a new home
and you want to have your electrician hard-wire a doorbell transformer
(not supplied) to power your address light. You
can order your address light without a Transformer Kit if
this is how you plan to install your unit.
If I am not going to use a transformer supplied by you,
what kind do I need?
A standard
12, 14 or 16 vac doorbell transformer, 8 watt minimum capacity is needed. Do
not exceed the maximum voltage of 16 vac. You can get this type of transformer
at most large hardware stores or from an electrical supply house.
What if I am replacing an old address light with one of
your address lights?
Tollmark

No. Unless

Do your address lights come with bulbs?
Yes. They
are pre-installed by us.
Do your address lights come with a transformer?
Yes. We
include a 14 vac plug-in type transformer with each address light.
Do your address lights come with mounting hardware?
Yes. The
hardware is included and should work on most mounting surfaces.
Can I recess my address light into a wall?
You can
if your address light is just sitting in the opening. Our lights are
made for surface mounting. The screws that join the housing
front and back plates are on the ends and must be accessible for
maintenance and proper installation.
Can I modify my address light so they can handle higher
voltages?
No. Our
lights operate on a maximum of 16 vac ONLY!

Ordinances and Address Number Height Requirements
I just found out the city I’m
building my new home in requires “internally illuminated
addresses.” Do
your lights meet the requirements?
Yes, under
most circumstances. Our address lights meet local ordinances in the following
counties: Clark County, Nevada (Las Vegas Area) San Bernardino County,
California and the following California cities and towns: Irvine, Orange,
Fontana, Corona, Escondido (plus others who have recently passed or are considering
address light ordinances).
Miscellaneous Questions
Why do I need an address light?
The
main reason is to make your house numbers easier to read from
the street. If you
or a loved one needs emergency help you don’t want the
paramedics or police driving
up and down the street trying to find your address. This
is a waste of precious
seconds and they do count.
We
all have experienced the aggravation of looking for an address
while driving a car. Even
with street lighting they are difficult to see. A Tollmark
Address Light solves this
problem.
How much power does your address light
use? What
will it cost me per year?
Tollmark
Address Lights typically use under $10.00 worth of electricity
per year.
Why don’t you use a photo-eye
(photoelectric sensor) to switch the address light on at night
and off during the day?
Adding a
photo-eye would raise the cost of the product and adds another piece of circuitry
that could fail. Also, annual electrical cost differences are minimal.
Besides bulbs what other maintenance will the address
light need?
After about
6 years your number panel may need to be replaced. Sun damage is usually
the cause.
Why don’t you have solar powered
lights?
At
this time the technology is just not consistent enough. Most
solar address lights do not stay lit
unless they get strong direct sunlight everyday. Even
then they may fade
out during the wee hours of the night. Of course emergencies
can occur at anytime.
The
solar panels work well, but a battery must store the power the
panel collects. Battery
technology is not advanced enough plus most batteries require some
on-going maintenance to continue being efficient.
When
solar and battery technology becomes reliable and cost effective
we will add this type of technology to our product line.
